The meaning of Awanui

Awanui means 'big river' and I'm named after the Wanganui river, the home of Mum's iwi Atihaunui-a-paparangi. Here's a saying from those parts:

I rere kaumai te awanui mai
te kahui maunga ki tangaroa.
Ko au, te awa
Ko te awa
Ko au.

The river flows from the mountain (Ruapehu)
to the sea.
I am the river and the river is me.

An early celebrity endorsement from UK author Simon Singh as my father exploits my pending delivery to crash the signing queue at the Auckland Writers' Festival. Posted by Hello

That's better. Posted by Hello

Evening, May 25: Out of the incubator, and out of focus. Nevermind. Posted by Hello

6.21am, Monday, 25 May 2005: Born by C-Section performed by cool, calm and collected obstetrician Simon Kelly. Spend first half day in incubator. Weigh 5.7 pounds, which is boss for my birth-date of 35 weeks. All readings 100% okay and all systems good to go. Note the cool red glowing red light on my right arm, which takes an infrared measure of my oxygen saturation. Posted by Hello

test post

I wish my father was better at HTML so this 'test post' didn't look so amateurish.
Is it even necessary?
